Emergency Furnace Service FAQ

Common questions about emergency furnace service in Sacramento, CA.

A furnace emergency in Sacramento means your home has no heat during cold weather, you smell gas near the unit, or you hear loud banging or detect a burning odor. Any of those situations require a call now, not a scheduled appointment.

Leave the home immediately and call your gas utility to report the leak before calling Hot & Cold HVAC. Do not operate any switches or appliances inside the home until the gas company clears the property.

In Sacramento, the most common causes are a failed igniter, a dirty flame sensor, a faulty gas valve, a clogged air filter, or a blower motor failure. A technician can identify which component failed through a proper diagnostic, not guesswork.

No, you should turn the furnace off and call Hot & Cold HVAC for an emergency inspection. Loud banging can point to a loose internal part or a delayed ignition issue that can damage the heat exchanger.

Yes, Hot & Cold HVAC takes emergency furnace calls in Sacramento outside of standard business hours. Call us directly to confirm availability for your specific situation.

Sacramento furnaces often sit unused for several months during spring and summer, and that idle period allows flame sensors to oxidize and igniters to weaken. The first cold week of the season puts sudden demand on components that have not run since the prior heating season.

Hot and cold has been maintaining our ac systems for years. They changed out 2 roof top units for our business a few years back. Great work with zero issues. They also did my house. Great company and highly recommend them.

Tim from hot & cold came out for second opinion after another company said our system couldn’t be repaired. Then they quotes us 15k for a new system. Tim had our system repaired in a couple hours and said it should be replace in the near future since it’s 18 years old. We plan on having hot $ cold replace our system next month for thousands cheaper than the other company quote. We really appreciate the honesty professionalism from time to time. Highly recommend this company.

Hot and cold came out to our house fixed our air conditioner, gave us a quote to replace our old system, we plan on having them out to put in a new system. They showed up on time and their prices were fair, Tim seemed very knowledgeable. Thank you for the help.

We had a freon leak and, of course, it happened during the triple digit heat wave when we needed AC the most! We were referred to Tim and he was able to fit us in his schedule right away. He was able to identify the source of the leak and repair it. He stands by his great work and his company is also reasonably priced. Our neighbors have also been having AC issues and we've been referring everyone to Tim! We'll be keeping his contact info for any future needs!
