In Mather Field’s Mediterranean climate, we see several recurring HVAC issues. The most common repairs involve capacitors, compressor problems, fan motor failures, and condenser coil issues—typically caused by the heavy workload during our hot summers and the aging of systems installed around 2000.
Clogged or dirty filters are extremely common, especially during wildfire season when smoke particles overwhelm standard filters. We also frequently address refrigerant leaks, thermostat malfunctions, and ductwork issues in homes with attic-installed furnaces where temperature extremes can affect system performance.
During winter months, we see more furnace-related calls, often involving ignition problems, heat exchanger issues, or blower motor failures. The key to preventing most of these problems is regular maintenance—catching small issues before they become expensive emergency repairs. Many of the costliest breakdowns we see could have been prevented with routine system care and filter changes.
